About this design & full specifications

The most reproduced image in the world, rebuilt one drill at a time. Hokusai drew the wave as a set of nested curves with foam breaking into fingers at the crest, and that is exactly the kind of shape a drill grid loves — every claw of spray is a small deliberate cluster rather than a smear. The great wave fills the left of the canvas and arcs over two slender boats; Mount Fuji sits small and snow-capped beyond, so the composition keeps the joke of the original, where the mountain is dwarfed by water. Deep Prussian blues carry the bulk of the canvas in long, meditative runs, and the sky is laid in as a graded, textured field rather than one flat tone. At 35 DMC colors this is the richest tray in the catalog — a piece for someone who wants the finish to reward a close look.
