What a print-on-demand diamond painting supplier is

Most “diamond painting suppliers” are wholesale factories: you commit to 50–200 pieces of one design, pay up front, wait two to four weeks for a sea shipment and hope the quality is even. That works for a store buying one bestseller by the pallet. It does not work for a creator who wants to sell their own designs — custom portraits, a niche illustration line, ten different pieces — to a real audience.

On demand flips it. There is no minimum: you list a design, and when a customer buys, one kit is made and shipped. You carry no inventory, tie up no cash, and can offer as many designs as you can create. The trade-off to watch is quality and design control — the colour mapping and the assembly happen out of your sight, so who your supplier is matters more than the price. That is the whole reason this page exists.

How an order works, step by step

  1. You upload a design — your artwork, a finished pattern file, or your customer’s photo — in your Pixelmade account or from your connected Shopify store.
  2. Our engine turns it into a manufacturable chart. This is the step most suppliers gloss over; the next section shows what it does.
  3. We make the kit. Canvas printed and drill-mapped, drills counted and bagged by DMC colour, tools packed. Production takes 2–4 days after you approve the chart and pay; our 2026 average from order to ship is 3.6 days.
  4. We ship it to your customer under your brand. Your logo is printed on the canvas; the package carries no Pixelmade branding (blind dropshipping). US Air Economy takes 12–16 days in transit (2026 average 14.6); Ocean Express is available from 50 kits. If a shipping problem comes up, we contact you, never your customer.

You pay the kit price plus the per-kit shipping for that order — both public, both shown before you commit — and nothing else: no membership, no set-up fee, no minimum.

How a photo becomes a chart (where cheap kits go wrong)

A diamond painting is not a print. Every one of the 15,000–19,000 cells on a 30×40 cm canvas has to become one drill colour from a finite DMC palette. Done naively, faces go muddy, eyes go dead and smooth skies break into confetti — which is why so many custom kits arrive looking nothing like the photo, and why custom-photo sellers collect one-star reviews.

Our engine decides each cell instead of averaging pixels: it keeps edges and eyes crisp and reduces the image to a clean, buildable palette. What a hobbyist would spend hours hand-fixing happens up front, before the kit is made. The chart you approve in the design tool is the chart we print.

The seller's photo on the left; on the right, the charts our engine produced for a 30×40 cm round kit (106×141 = 14,946 drills, 19 DMC colours) and square kit (120×161 = 19,320 drills, 19 DMC colours)

Try it on your own image before you sign up: the custom diamond art from photo tool runs the same engine.

Real production specs

No supplier publishes these, and the numbers floating around the web contradict each other. Here are ours; the grids are the ones our engine generates for every 30×40 cm chart.

Spec Square drill Round drill
Material 16-facet resin acrylic
Weight per drill 0.0055 g 0.0047 g
Grid pitch 2.5 mm 2.822 mm
Production grid, 30×40 cm kit 120 × 161 = 19,320 drills 106 × 141 = 14,946 drills
Finish seamless mosaic classic sparkle
Canvas pearlescent tight-weave flannelette, warm-white, poured-glue adhesive same
Specialty drills AB (aurora) and Fairy Dust (pearlescent), on the colours you choose same

Square or round — and why our square drills are resin

Round drills are acrylic: they look great, and a round shape hides its own edges. Square drills we make in resin, although resin costs several times more, because acrylic square drills leave fuzzy, uneven edges that ruin the seamless mosaic look people choose square for. Resin holds a clean 16-facet edge. For a premium kit your customer is proud to frame, that is the right call.

For sellers: square reads as the premium, finished-mosaic option; round is faster and beginner-friendly. Most sellers offer both.

Prices you can see: per kit, plus US shipping

These are the public single-kit prices (September 22, 2026; USD). Product price is the same from 1 to 19 kits; from 20 kits the volume discount ladder applies (8% / 13% / 18% / 25% at 20 / 50 / 100 / 300 kits — see bulk kits). Shipping is per kit, US delivery, Air Economy.

Real seller economics: one kit on Etsy

Every “start a diamond painting business” article quotes a margin and never shows the math. Here is the math, with only public numbers: our delivered price above and Etsy’s published fees (6.5% transaction, about 3% + $0.25 payment processing, $0.20 listing). Custom-photo 30×40 cm kits sell for $40–60 on the shops that rank for “custom diamond painting” (Dreamer Designs lists $59.99; Paint With Diamonds from $24.99 to $119.99 by size), so the example prices are mid-market, not aggressive.

Line Round 30×40 at $39.99 Square 30×40 at $44.99
Retail price $39.99 $44.99
− Etsy fees (6.5% + ~3% + $0.25 + $0.20) −$4.25 −$4.72
− Pixelmade, kit + US shipping to your customer −$19.00 −$21.00
Your profit per kit (before optional ads) $16.74 (42%) $19.27 (43%)

At that margin, about 60 kits a month clears $1,000 in profit with no inventory and no shipping to manage. Price at $34.99 and the round kit still earns $12.20 (35%). If you run Etsy Offsite Ads, subtract 12–15% of the sale on attributed orders.

Built to a premium standard

We build for US and European creators selling a tier above the cheap kits that flood the marketplaces, so your customers get something worth the price and you keep a premium margin: 16-facet resin square drills with no burrs, a pearlescent tight-weave canvas that sparkles before a drill is placed, legends printed large enough to read, and AB and Fairy Dust drills on the colours you choose — finishes the budget tier does not carry.

White label and store sync

Your brand, not ours: your logo prints on the canvas and the shipment arrives unbranded, so the customer relationship stays yours. Connect a Shopify store to route orders and tracking automatically (how the integration works); sell on Etsy or elsewhere by placing orders in your account or through the API. An Etsy sync is not live today — we would rather tell you that than promise it.

From one kit to a run

The same kit, the same pipeline: when a design takes off, order 20 or more of it and the volume ladder applies — bulk custom diamond painting kits shows every tier with shipping, and a written quote comes back within one business day.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum order? No. Each kit is made after it sells, so the minimum order is one. From 20 kits of a design the volume discount applies.

What do I pay per kit? The kit price plus per-kit US shipping in the table above — for a 30×40 cm round kit, $9.00 + $10.00 = $19.00 delivered on a single order (September 22, 2026 prices). No membership or set-up fee.

Can I sell custom-photo kits? Yes. Your customer uploads a photo, our engine converts it into the chart, you approve it, and we make and ship that one kit. The chart you approve is the chart we print.

Does the kit carry my brand? Your logo is printed on the canvas and the package is unbranded — blind dropshipping. Pixelmade stays behind the scenes, and if a shipping issue comes up we contact you, not your customer.

How long does it take? Production is 2–4 days after chart approval and payment (2026 average 3.6 days from order to ship), then 12–16 days US Air Economy transit (2026 average 14.6 days). Transit times are carrier estimates; state production and shipping separately to your customers.

What are the drills made of, and how many are in a kit? Square drills are 16-facet resin; round drills are acrylic. A 30×40 cm kit is 14,946 drills round (106×141) or 19,320 square (120×161). Both are sorted by DMC colour, and AB or Fairy Dust drills can replace any colour you choose.

Can you sell finished diamond paintings? You can, but a finished piece sells once and takes hours to make. Selling the kit — your design, made to order — scales: the same artwork sells again and again with no labour per sale.

Do you integrate with Etsy or Shopify? Shopify today, with orders and tracking synced. Etsy and other channels work by placing orders in your account or through the API; an Etsy sync is not live yet.
